Within EFACS E/8, functionality is provided to obtain payments from customers safely and securely using third party software such as Netbanx or Sagepay. PCI Pal increases security levels for this by allowing an EFACS user to take credit card details from an end user without viewing the sensitive information, or hearing it over the phone.
During the process, the operator passes control of data entry to the end user so that they can type in their card details securely. The operator will see when data is entered, however they will not see the details themselves. The details are then sent to the payment provider, and their responses are routed through PCI Pal back to EFACS.
Details
Upon the requirement of a credit card payment, a call is made to the Netbank or Sagepay systems. During the call, the EFACS user would ask the user to enter their credit card details, and Netbanx/ Sagepay would confirm them to be either valid or invalid. During this process, PCI Pal ensures that the EFACS user cannot see, hear, or access these details. They will merely see a screen showing payment amount, reference and customer name when the link is established with PCI Pal. They will then connect to PCI Pal and enter a 4-digit pin to establish the correct link. At this point they will ask the end user to enter their card details. Their data is then validated, and the EFACS user will then press the ‘Process Card’ option to process the payment.
